10 Easy Ways You Can Help with the Amazon Fires + More
10 EASY WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
Within 24 hours of the Notre Dame fires $945 million had been pledged for the cathedral’s restoration. We weren’t notified of the Amazon fires until 3 weeks after the flames had engulfed a large amount of the rainforest. The G7 Summit is offering Brazil $22 million to help fight the fires that continue to blaze across millions of acres. The irony that the planet that provides us so much life and the resources to build these churches and places of worship is being desecrated and burned in order to mass produce for a modern lifestyle and off course, for money. See below for easily-accessible ways you can use your dollars to support that which unconditionally supports us and what you can do to help shift the imbalance that capitalistic greed has created on our planet. These are NOT natural fires. It is an attack on the Amazon, home to the most bio-diverse eco-system and incredibly powerful indigenous wisdoms and peoples who are protecting their home + our planet not JUST for themselves but for everyone.

ALL GOOD!!! - HERE’S A FEW MORE THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR LASTING CHANGE.
REMOVE BEEF FROM YOUR DIET - this one makes A LOT of people uncomfortable. If you are feeling uncomfortable about the thought of removing beef from your diet, you’re not alone. Get curious and ask yourself why? Experiment and just give it a try! If you really can’t go without your burger or steak start sourcing your meat from sustainable and local farms, don’t buy from places like McDonalds or anyone selling beef imported from Brazil specifically (or anywhere else that is burning down forests in order to raise cattle for slaughter + dairy).
REMOVE SOY FROM YOUR DIET - Although this one I’ve been told is due to the fact that a lot of the world’s soy is being produced for cow’s to eat, soy is still questionable in excess. It’s definitely leading to deforestation across the globe and something you want to eat/drink in moderation. It’s also unfortunately in so many other products that you wouldn’t realize. Start to check the ingredients list on typical products you buy and try your best to steer clear of unsustainable soy.
GET EDUCATED AND RESEARCH: There is a lot that isn’t making it to the mainstream media from around the world. Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay have been burning for 3 weeks before we got word in the US. I’ve also been informed that millions of acres in Serbia are ablaze as well. Learning about what’s going on in the world can be overwhelming but your knowledge makes a difference. Also research what you eat and where it’s actually coming from.
SPREAD THE WORD - If you can’t donate maybe your friends and family can. Share with them the organizations you stand behind and are passionate about and see if they’d like to support.
GET CLEAR ON YOUR VALUES - None of us can help all of the causes all of the time. Find what speaks to you most, what’s most important to you and find ways you can support with monthly donations, volunteering, initiatives or fundraisers. Everyone has their own unique way of giving and contributing. Find yours and share!
